Rebreather TrainingOpen enrollment schedule below—private classes available, please inquire.
Get closer to the sea life for photography, stay warmer and better hydrated, dive all day without switching tanks and experience life without bubbles. Rebreather classes at Splash have been extremely popular since the beginning when our primary units were limited to Dräger Dolphins & Rays. Now Splash is playing with several other options and we can help you find your perfect fit. Class sizes are limited and scheduled around your time table. During training and after, our students have had the opportunity to dive ship wrecks in the Great Lakes, North Carolina, Florida springs, Bonaire reefs and the local locations including Mt. Storm, Milbrook, Lake Rawlings, Dutch Springs & Bainbridge. Splash currently has the ability to train on more than five different units and can arrange training on several others through our affiliates.
Semi-Closed RebreathersSplash offers training on the Dräger Dolphin and Ray semi-closed rebreathers, which are available for rent in some carribean locations. Read the course description. Fully Closed RebreathersThe O2ptima breathes the way a rebreather should breathe. This completely closed system is built to serve recreational divers as well as tec explorers. In order to shorten the breathing loop, the scrubber canister is directly behind the diver's head with the counter lungs right over the diver's own lungs. The decreased resistance that this design offers sets the O2ptima apart from others units. All of the component parts are Dive Rite based, so use a Transpac or plate from your doubles with a Rec Wing and you are set. The fittings and regulators are also Dive Rite standard, so no funky proprietary valves. This is the complete system with computer electronics, backup O2 sensors and onboard bail out option with Rite Source for recreational configurations. Units are currently available and training may be conducted locally in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida or at one of the Dive Rite distributor locations worldwide. Stop in to see a unit and/or email dive@splashdivecenter.com for more information. The capabilities and technologies of rebreathers are growing and training is of the utmost importance. We are happy to discuss, coach and assist you in eithering entering this new area or expanding your current knowledge. Splash CCR divers have used their units in caves, ice, wrecks and photography. Our ice divers use Drägers, Inspirations & O2ptimas. Curt Harpold is presently working on the development of an Australian unit, the Stingray. More information on Curt's project…
