Nick, a Splash Junior O.W. Diver, Scuba Dives with a Stingray friend in Belize!

Mr. Steve and Ms. Judy (Splash teaching Staff),

Thank you for teaching me to SCUBA Dive. In Belize, I finished my Open Water Diver Course. I had a really good instructor, just like you! I got to see stingrays, spotted eagle rays, octopi, nurse sharks, big groupers, moray eels, big tarpon and lots of other fish. I thought it was really fun. We dove in Hol Chan Marine Reserve and "off the reef". I went to 40+ feet and really liked it. I made a total of six dives. I had to enter using a back roll, that was the hardest part.

Mom and Dad rented an underwater camera and took pictures when we dove. I am sending a picture of me with an underwater friend.

Thank you for teaching me to dive!

Nick

Splash's President, Ron Carmichael replies to Nick: We hope to see you underwater and continuing the underwater adventure in 2007! Great job, Junior Open Water Diver!

Rebreather Training

Rebreathers at Mt. Storm

Subject: Mt. Storm Photos

Ron,

Thanks from Karen and me for a great new dive experience this weekend high in the West Virginia mountains. The weather was miserable and included sleet, hail, very chilly winds and maybe even a little snow. A new dive site for us and new equipment (rebreathers), together with your dive expertise, made a very memorable, albeit miserable weather, dive weekend. The attached photos are yours for use as you see fit, Web site included. They do not truly show just how damn cold it really was but we shall remember! Thanks for being a great dive instructor. We want to go to Florida with you for cave diving soon.

I highly recommend the Drager Dolphin rebreather PADI cert offered by Splash. My recommendation is due, in no small part, to the high caliber of instruction! At no time during my instruction did I feel like I was just being "taught from a book". Rather I felt as though I was being taught by a guy who "could have wrote the book himself". Rebreathers are a more technical style diving and learning from someone who is a veteran technical diver left me with a great deal of confidence and a real sense of accomplishment, THANKS!

My experience with SCUBA diving began in 1968 during a 3 day vacation to the Bahamas with my Father. At 13 years old, I had a 1/2 hour "lesson" on a boat on the way out to a shallow reef after which we threw on the tank and hit the water! That was an incredibly exciting experience that hooked me on SCUBA for life.

After 30 years of diving, learning to use the Draeger Dolphin rebreather allowed me to relive some of that original excitement! Our instructor and dive master, Curt Harpold, provided excellent training on all aspects of the operation and maintenance of the Draeger Dolphin and focused on safety as well as the benefits of using the Dolphin. Curt's extensive diving experience and his wide and deep knowledge about diving in general, and rebreathers in particular, was a huge benefit during the training.

My first experience using the Dolphin was as unique and exciting as my first dive, way back in 1968. I'm really glad that I decided to take the course and expand my skills.
